New little daughter,
Ready to make

I wrote this poem for my niece in 2004 to celebrate the birth of her second daughter.

When a boy turns one...
When a boy turns one,
The sun is golden,
It shines so brightly
on a new day.
The sea is brilliant
and wonderfully washy,
Come swim with me
and sail away.
The forests are taller
and greener
and just so clear,
The grasses are
swaying and wispy,
Let's hide and disappear.
Small creatures are
moving and playing,
You'll find them
and know that it's true.
The world is just waking,
It's ready and stirring,
It's full of adventure
and mystery and plenty,
And all for a boy who is one,
who is one,
and all for a boy
like you..

Trevor's wife requested a fun birthday poem for her husband.
She told me a few details - He's bald (and enjoys it), both like to water ski, three adorable boys, Trevor works in the stock market and he's rather good at ballroom dancing.
"When my wife read the poem at the party I was totally bowled over. It was the best birthday present I've ever had. " Trevor.

Fifty nine years today,
Little Trevor came to stay,
He was so cute with little hair.
He's just the same today - so there.
He grew into a lively lad,
The best his parents ever had,
And when he was just 23
He went ahead and married me.
The honeymoon was near the sea,
It's where we learned to water ski,
We did the flips, we did the jumps,
And in between we did the humps.
And as a small result of this.
The three boys came and brought us bliss.
They drove us crazy, made us wail,
We're lucky that they're not in jail.
But of course we still adore them,
Honey, will you pass the bourbon,
We need a drink, I don't mean tea,
To survive the volatility.
You do your best, but do it now,
To raise the Nikkei and the Dow,
So we don't have to sell the car,
The house, the farm, the cookie jar.
Just leave the plasma, you cry to me,
It's my only chance of sanity.
It's funny how it's all turned out,
We've sure been on the roundabout,
But with your humor and your heart,
We made it darling, aren't we smart!
So dear husband, here's to you,
A man not 60, this is true,
Just take me in your arms, of course,
And show off The Blue Danube Waltz.
